Youth Fishing Day
The annual Bardstown Bassmasters Rodney Smith Youth Fishing Day will be held at Holt's Lake & Campground in Bardstown, KY on Saturday, June the 7th. Youth Day will begin around 7:30 am and finish up around 1 pm. The event is free, but parents (including club members) need to sign-up their kids in advance with Frankie Livers at (502) 348-2742 or e-mail at flivers@bardstowncable.net. Please be sure to include shirt size for each child planning to attend. Be sure to notify family, friends, neighbors, etc..., as this is an excellent opportunity to spur kids interest in fishing, as well as promoting family oriented activities. Each child typically receives an event t-shirt, baits, lunch from Holt's concession stand, as well as other gifts and prizes.
Club members, spouses, older children, etc... are needed to work the various booths and activities on the day of the event, in addition to helping to setup on Friday evening (6/6/08). Everyone will likely meet around 5:30 - 6 pm on Friday night and around 6:30 - 7am on Saturday morning. Members who participate Friday and/or Saturday will also receive 1 credit towards the total of 6 events required for Classic eligibility.
Nolin Lake Recap - Haysley & Cundiff Cash-In
Many of the club anglers had spent hours on Nolin working to establish reliable patterns for Sunday's tournament, but heavy rain storms on Friday and Saturday negated most by staining the lake and sending its waters in excess of 3'-0 above summer pool. The conditions appeared to take their toll on most members, but it was Steve Haysley & Woody Cundiff who adapted and cashed in on their first win of the 2008 season Sunday at Nolin Lake. Their 6 fish bag weighed 13.51 lbs and included the tournament big fish (4.05 lb). Dale Mulhall and James Kuzirian, who played the Samaritan roll early in the day by helping to repair member's broken boats, walked away with a second place check. Their 4 fish bag totaled 6.65 lbs. In all, 33 fish were caught, weighing 49.5 lbs and resulting in an 3.81 lb/boat avg.
