Nolin Lake Tournament Recap - Haysley & Cundiff Triumph in their '09 Debut.
The team of Steve Haysley and Woody Cundiff may have fished their first Bardstown tournament of the year Saturday at Nolin Lake, but they made their entrance in grand fashion. Steve & Wood captured first place and big fish honors with a nice 6 fish, 14.54 lb bag of that included a, rare for Nolin, 6+ lb monster. The giant bass weighed 6.25 lbs, but was recorded at 6.05 due to the 0.2 lb per dead fish penalty. Mike Embry & Steve Hettinger finished a distant second with a four bass bag, totaling 9.50 lbs. The 10 boats participating in the tournament brought 30 bass to the scales, weighing 57.42 lbs (1.91 lb/fish average). The 5.74 lb per boat average 3rd best for the year, but was not enough to supplant Barren (10.75lb/boat) as the current host site for this year's Classic.
The light turn out and tough fishing also tightened up the Team Championship points race. With three tournaments remaining, the team of Allen Jaggers & Jerry Bovinet have surged to a 5 point lead with 285 points. The teams of Dale Mulhall & Jim Kuzirian and Mike Embry & Steve Hettinger are tied for second place and are still in striking distance with 280 points apiece. Larry Ritter & Pat Stein are in are 4th with 273. Steve Jaggers & Brent Simon are in 5th with 269 and Tony Foster & Derrick Ware round out the top 6 with 268.
IMPORTANT: For those new to the club, the Bardstown Bassmasters Rough River tournament will once again be held in conjunction with the Rough River Fiddler's Festival tournament. All BBM teams are eligible to fish both tournament if they so desire. PLEASE BE SURE TO GET TO THE RAMP EARLY TO SIGN UP (FOR EITHER TOURNAMENT), AS PARKING WILL BE A PREMIUM. Those BBM teams who do not elect to fish the Fiddler's tournament should idle out & assemble on the right hand point leaving the State Ramp cove by 7:40pm. Those teams will be released a few minutes prior to the Fiddler's tournament to ensure a safe, confusion free, departure. Those teams fishing both tournaments MUST depart with the Fiddler's tournament boats, in that tournament's sequenced order. ALL FISH for both tournaments will be weighed on the Fiddler tournament's scales. Call Pat Stein if you have any questions regarding this tournament.
